And the sons of Reuben the first- born of Israel( for he was the first- born; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father’s couch, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the prince; but the birthright was Joseph’s),

The sons of Abraham: Isaac, and Ishmael.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor: and they served other gods.And I took your father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; and Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.

By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised:

But thou, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend,

And Abraham begat Isaac. The sons of Isaac: Esau, and Israel.

And these are the names of the children of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s first- born.And the sons of Reuben: Hanoch, and Pallu, and Hezron, and Carmi.And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.And the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.And the sons of Judah: Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.And the sons of Issachar: Tola, and Puvah, and Iob, and Shimron.And the sons of Zebulun: Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel.These are the sons of Leah, whom she bare unto Jacob in Paddan- aram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty and three.And the sons of Gad: Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.And the sons of Asher: Imnah, and Ishvah, and Ishvi, and Beriah, and Serah their sister; and the sons of Beriah: Heber, and Malchiel.These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter; and these she bare unto Jacob, even sixteen souls.The sons of Rachel Jacob’s wife: Joseph and Benjamin.And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Poti- phera priest of On, bare unto him.And the sons of Benjamin: Bela, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.And the sons of Dan: Hushim.And the sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob: all the souls were seven.All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, that came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were threescore and six;and the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, that came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.

And Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.

Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many.

These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun,Dan, Joseph, and Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.The sons of Judah: Er, and Onan, and Shelah; which three were born unto him of Shua’s daughter the Canaanitess. And Er, Judah’s first- born, was wicked in the sight of Jehovah; and he slew him.And Tamar his daughter- in- law bare him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.The sons of Perez: Hezron, and Hamul.And the sons of Zerah: Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara; five of them in all.And the sons of Carmi: Achar, the troubler of Israel, who committed a trespass in the devoted thing.And the sons of Ethan: Azariah.

And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben; for she said, Because Jehovah hath looked upon my affliction; for now my husband will love me.And she conceived again, and bare a son: and said, Because Jehovah hath heard that I am hated, he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon.And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have borne him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, This time will I praise Jehovah: therefore she called his name Judah; and she left off bearing.

Of the tribe of Judah were sealed twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand;

And Bilhah conceived, and bare Jacob a son.And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.And Bilhah Rachel’s handmaid conceived again, and bare Jacob a second son.And Rachel said, With mighty wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.When Leah saw that she had left off bearing, she took Zilpah her handmaid, and gave her to Jacob to wife.And Zilpah Leah’s handmaid bare Jacob a son.And Leah said, Fortunate! and she called his name Gad.And Zilpah Leah’s handmaid bare Jacob a second son.And Leah said, Happy am I! for the daughters will call me happy: and she called his name Asher.And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son’s mandrakes.And she said unto her, Is it a small matter that thou hast taken away my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son’s mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to- night for thy son’s mandrakes.And Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for I have surely hired thee with my son’s mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare Jacob a fifth son.And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I gave my handmaid to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.And Leah conceived again, and bare a sixth son to Jacob.And Leah said, God hath endowed me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.

And they journeyed from Beth- el; and there was still some distance to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labor.And it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; for now thou shalt have another son.And it came to pass, as her soul was departing( for she died), that she called his name Ben- oni: but his father called him Benjamin.And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath( the same is Beth- lehem).

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: and Joseph was in Egypt already.

For it is evident that our Lord hath sprung out of Judah; as to which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priests.

neither, because they are Abraham’s seed, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.That is, it is not the children of the flesh that are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for a seed.For this is a word of promise, According to this season will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.And not only so; but Rebecca also having conceived by one, even by our father Isaac—for the children being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth,it was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.Even as it is written, Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.

the son of Amminadab, the son of Arni, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor,

I have loved you, saith Jehovah. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith Jehovah: yet I loved Jacob;but Esau I hated, and made his mountains a desolation, and gave his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness.
