所以我們就稱傲慢的人有福；作惡的人不僅得以興旺，他們試驗神也得以逃脫。』」

我儕則謂狂傲者有福、行惡者建立、試上帝而獲免、

我見驕者福祉駢臻、惡者昌盛無比、雖試上帝、亦得免於患難、

爾又曰、今我可稱驕傲者為福、作惡者昌盛、昌盛或作得建彼雖試天主、亦得免於患難、

But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’”

But now we call proud people blessed. Things go well with those who do what is evil. And God doesn’t even punish those who test him.’ ”

So now we consider the arrogant to be fortunate. Not only do those who commit wickedness prosper, they even test God and escape.”

So now we call the proud blessed, For those who do wickedness are raised up; They even tempt God and go free.’”

And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are built up; yea, they tempt God, and escape.

So now we consider the arrogant to be fortunate. Not only do those who commit wickedness prosper, they even test God and escape.”

“ Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the Lord Almighty.“ Not a root or a branch will be left to them. (niv)

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,“ God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (niv)

We should not test Christ, as some of them did— and were killed by snakes. (niv)

The tents of marauders are undisturbed, and those who provoke God are secure— those God has in his hand. (niv)

In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test. (niv)

Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?They see their children established around them, their offspring before their eyes.Their homes are safe and free from fear; the rod of God is not on them.Their bulls never fail to breed; their cows calve and do not miscarry.They send forth their children as a flock; their little ones dance about.They sing to the music of timbrel and lyre; they make merry to the sound of the pipe.They spend their years in prosperity and go down to the grave in peace.Yet they say to God,‘ Leave us alone! Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?You have made people like the fish in the sea, like the sea creatures that have no ruler.The wicked foe pulls all of them up with hooks, he catches them in his net, he gathers them up in his dragnet; and so he rejoices and is glad.Therefore he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, for by his net he lives in luxury and enjoys the choicest food.Is he to keep on emptying his net, destroying nations without mercy? (niv)

They willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved. (niv)

The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers, but the root of the righteous endures. (niv)

You are always righteous, Lord, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?You have planted them, and they have taken root; they grow and bear fruit. You are always on their lips but far from their hearts. (niv)

So I reflected on all this and concluded that the righteous and the wise and what they do are in God’s hands, but no one knows whether love or hate awaits them.All share a common destiny— the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not. As it is with the good, so with the sinful; as it is with those who take oaths, so with those who are afraid to take them. (niv)

that the wicked are spared from the day of calamity, that they are delivered from the day of wrath? (niv)

So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel,“ May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!” (niv)
