所以我們就稱傲慢的人有福；作惡的人不僅得以興旺，他們試驗神也得以逃脫。』」

我儕則謂狂傲者有福、行惡者建立、試上帝而獲免、

我見驕者福祉駢臻、惡者昌盛無比、雖試上帝、亦得免於患難、

爾又曰、今我可稱驕傲者為福、作惡者昌盛、昌盛或作得建彼雖試天主、亦得免於患難、

But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’”

But now we call proud people blessed. Things go well with those who do what is evil. And God doesn’t even punish those who test him.’ ”

From now on we will call the arrogant blessed. For those who do evil get rich, and those who dare God to punish them suffer no harm.’”

So now we call the arrogant blessed; not only are the doers of wickedness built up, but they also put God to the test and escape punishment.’ ”

So now we call the proud blessed, For those who do wickedness are raised up; They even tempt God and go free.’”

And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are built up; yea, they tempt God, and escape.

And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea,[ they that] tempt God are even delivered.

So now we consider the arrogant to be happy; indeed, those who practice evil are successful. In fact, those who challenge God escape!’”

Now we call the proud happy; yes, those who work wickedness are built up; yes, they tempt God, and escape.’

“ For indeed, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them,” says the Lord of Hosts,“ not leaving them root or branches.

In the same way, you younger men, be subject to the elders. And all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Let us not test Christ as some of them did and were destroyed by snakes.

The tents of robbers are safe, and those who provoke God are secure; God’s power provides this.

They were seized with craving in the wilderness and tested God in the desert.

Why do the wicked continue to live, growing old and becoming powerful?Their children are established while they are still alive, and their descendants, before their eyes.Their homes are secure and free of fear; no rod from God strikes them.Their bulls breed without fail; their cows calve and do not miscarry.They let their little ones run around like lambs; their children skip about,singing to the tambourine and lyre and rejoicing at the sound of the flute.They spend their days in prosperity and go down to Sheol in peace.Yet they say to God:“ Leave us alone! We don’t want to know Your ways.Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him, and what will we gain by pleading with Him?”

Your eyes are too pure to look on evil, and You cannot tolerate wrongdoing. So why do You tolerate those who are treacherous? Why are You silent while one who is wicked swallows up one who is more righteous than himself?You have made mankind like the fish of the sea, like marine creatures that have no ruler.The Chaldeans pull them all up with a hook, catch them in their dragnet, and gather them in their fishing net; that is why they are glad and rejoice.That is why they sacrifice to their dragnet and burn incense to their fishing net, for by these things their portion is rich and their food plentiful.Will they therefore empty their net and continually slaughter nations without mercy?

They deliberately tested God, demanding the food they craved.

The wicked desire what evil men have, but the root of the righteous produces fruit.

the king exclaimed,“ Is this not Babylon the Great that I have built by my vast power to be a royal residence and to display my majestic glory?”

But they rebelliously tested the Most High God, for they did not keep His decrees.

Look at them— the wicked! They are always at ease, and they increase their wealth.

where your fathers tested Me; they tried Me, though they had seen what I did.

Though he praises himself during his lifetime— and people praise you when you do well for yourself—

none of the men who have seen My glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tested Me these 10 times and did not obey Me,will ever see the land I swore to give their fathers. None of those who have despised Me will see it.

For the wicked one boasts about his own cravings; the one who is greedy curses and despises the Lord.

and said to Him,“ If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He will give His angels orders concerning you, and they will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”Jesus told him,“ It is also written: Do not test the Lord your God.”

You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you ask,“ How have we wearied Him?” When you say,“ Everyone who does what is evil is good in the Lord’s sight, and He is pleased with them,” or“ Where is the God of justice?”

Then Peter said to her,“ Why did you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out!”

Then do you come and stand before Me in this house called by My name and say,‘ We are delivered, so we can continue doing all these detestable acts’?

The vessels from His house were brought to you, and as you and your nobles, wives, and concubines drank wine from them, you praised the gods made of silver and gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or understand. But you have not glorified the God who holds your life-breath in His hand and who controls the whole course of your life.Therefore, He sent the hand, and this writing was inscribed.“ This is the writing that was inscribed: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN.This is the interpretation of the message: MENE means that God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end.TEKEL means that you have been weighed in the balance and found deficient.PERES means that your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”

You will be righteous, Lord, even if I bring a case against You. Yet, I wish to contend with You: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the treacherous live at ease?You planted them, and they have taken root. They have grown and produced fruit. You are ever on their lips, but far from their conscience.

Indeed, I took all this to heart and explained it all: the righteous, the wise, and their works are in God’s hands. People don’t know whether to expect love or hate. Everything lies ahead of them.Everything is the same for everyone: there is one fate for the righteous and the wicked, for the good and the bad, for the clean and the unclean, for the one who sacrifices and the one who does not sacrifice. As it is for the good, so it is for the sinner; as for the one who takes an oath, so for the one who fears an oath.

Indeed, the evil man is spared from the day of disaster, rescued from the day of wrath.

So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel,“ May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”
