那時我用旱風和霉爛擊打你們，又用冰雹擊打你們手下的各樣農作物，你們仍然不歸向我：永恆主發神諭說。

主永恆主這樣使我看見：看哪，在替王刈割了之後、就有了再生植物；看哪，在再生植物剛長起來之初，永恆主正在使蝗蟲形成呢。當蝗蟲幾乎將要喫盡了那地底青物時，我就說：『主永恆主啊，請赦免哦！雅各怎能站立得住呢？他是這麼微小啊。』永恆主對這事改變了心意；主永恆主就說：『這事不發生啦。』

他就按時將你們的地所需要的雨水、就是秋霖春雨、賜下來，使你們可以收藏五穀、新酒，和新油。

『我用旱風霉爛擊打你們，使你們的菜園和葡萄園荒廢；你們的無花果樹和橄欖樹都給剪蟲喫了，你們仍不回來歸我』：永恆主發神諭說。

田野的走獸啊，不要懼怕；因為曠野的草場又發青了，樹木結果子了，無花果樹、葡萄樹都效力了。

葡萄樹令人失望，無花果樹衰萎凋殘；石榴樹、及棕樹、蘋果樹、田野所有的樹木都枯乾了：唉，歡躍之樂也令人失望而不在人間了。

剪蟲剩下的、蝗蟲喫了；蝗蟲剩下的、蝻子喫了；蝻子剩下的、螞蚱喫了。

『我卻要使北方的蝗蟲隊遠離你們；我必趕逐牠們到乾旱荒涼之地，使其前隊入東海，其後隊入西海；使其臭氣上升，其腥味上騰，因為牠們幹了大壞事了。

就使無花果樹不結果子，葡萄樹上無出產，橄欖樹的農作物令人失望，田地又不出糧食，羊從羊圈中被剪除，牛棚內也沒有牛，

因為必有平安興隆之撒種；葡萄樹必結果子，地必生出土產，天必降下雨露；我必使這餘剩的人民擁有這一切之福。

永恆主發神諭說：我必徹底收拾他們；葡萄樹上都沒有葡萄；無花果樹上都沒有無花果；葉子全都凋殘；我賜給他們的都離開他們而過去了。』

牠蹧蹋了我的葡萄樹，把我的無花果樹都扯成碎片，剝盡淨光而棄置着；其枝藤都露白了。
