Jesus replied,“ Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

And Jesus said to him,“ Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

Jesus told him,“ Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

And Jesus said to him,“ The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

And Jesus said to him,“ Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Jesus told him,“ Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? (niv)

“ If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters— yes, even their own life— such a person cannot be my disciple.And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.“ Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you,saying,‘ This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’“ Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand?If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace.In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples. (niv)

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. (niv)

Jesus replied,“ Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” (niv)

Joshua said to the people,“ You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.”But the people said to Joshua,“ No! We will serve the Lord.”Then Joshua said,“ You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the Lord.”“ Yes, we are witnesses,” they replied. (niv)

On hearing it, many of his disciples said,“ This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them,“ Does this offend you?Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before!The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you— they are full of the Spirit and life.Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.He went on to say,“ This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. (niv)

Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. (niv)

When Jesus heard this, he said to him,“ You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. (niv)
