For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

一個人就是賺得了全世界，卻喪失了自己，或賠上了自己，到底有什麼益處呢？

利盡天下、而自喪自亡、何益之有、

人盡得天下而自喪自亡、何益之有、

人即富有天下、而喪亡其真我、亦有何益？

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?

What good is it if someone gains the whole world but loses or gives up their very self?

For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?

For what does it benefit someone if he gains the whole world, and yet loses or forfeits himself?

For what good does it do a person if he gains the whole world, but loses or forfeits himself?

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?

For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?

What is a man benefited if he gains the whole world, yet loses or forfeits himself?

For what does it benefit a person if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?

For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self?

They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;None[ of them] can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:( For the redemption of their soul[ is] precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink,[ and] be merry.But God said unto him,[ Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?So[ is] he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

But I keep under my body, and bring[ it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong[ is] the Lord God who judgeth her.

Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
