Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her.“ Stop wailing,” Jesus said.“ She is not dead but asleep.”

During this time, all the people were crying and sobbing loudly over the child.“ Stop crying!” Jesus said.“ She is not dead. She is sleeping.”

And all were weeping and mourning for her, but he said,“ Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.”

The house was filled with people weeping and wailing, but he said,“ Stop the weeping! She isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.”

一大群人跟随他，有些妇女为他捶胸痛哭。

耶稣听见，就说：“这病不至于死，而是为了神的荣耀，使神的儿子因此得到荣耀。”

以扫听了他父亲的话，就非常痛心，放声大哭，对他父亲说：“我父啊，求你也给我祝福。”以撒说：“你弟弟已经前来，用诡计把你的祝福夺去了。”

王悲恸得全身发抖，就上城楼去哀哭。他一面走一面这样说：“我儿押沙龙啊！我儿，我儿押沙龙啊！但愿我替你死。押沙龙啊！我儿，我儿啊！”（本节在《马索拉文本》为19:1）

万军之耶和华这样说：“你们要思想，要把唱哀歌的妇女召来，把那些擅长哀哭的妇女请来；叫他们赶快为我们举哀，使我们的眼流下眼泪，使我们的眼皮涌出泪水。因为从锡安可以听到哀声，说：‘我们何等衰败！我们多么羞耻！因我们丢弃了这地，我们的家园被拆毁了。’”妇女们哪！你们要听耶和华的话，你们的耳朵要领受他口中的话；要教导你们的女儿举哀，各人要彼此学习哀歌。因为死亡从窗户上来，进入我们的堡垒；要从街上剪除孩童，从广场上剪除年轻人。

耶和华荣耀的景象，在以色列人眼前，好像在山顶上出现烈火。

撒拉死在迦南地的基列．亚巴，就是希伯仑；亚伯拉罕进去为撒拉哀恸哭号。

“我必把那恩慈与恳求的灵倾注在大卫家和耶路撒冷居民的身上。他们必仰望我，就是他们所刺的；他们要为他哀哭，好像丧独生子；他们必为他悲痛，好像丧长子。

他们来到会堂主管的家，耶稣看见许多人哭泣哀号，一片混乱，就走进去，对众人说：“为什么大哭大嚷呢？孩子不是死了，是睡着了。”

说：‘我们给你们吹笛子，你们却不跳舞；我们唱哀歌，你们也不捶胸。’

耶稣说完了这些话，跟着又对他们说：“我们的朋友拉撒路睡了，我要去唤醒他。”门徒说：“主啊，如果他睡了，就会好过来的。”其实耶稣是指着拉撒路的死说的，门徒却以为他是指正常的睡眠说的。
