「你們禱告的時候，不要像偽善的人那樣。他們喜愛站在會堂裡和十字路口禱告，好讓人看見。我確實地告訴你們：他們已經得到了他們的報償。至於你，你禱告的時候，要進入你的內室，關上門，向你在隱祕中的父禱告。這樣，你那在隱祕中察看的父就將回報你。

然後他除了彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰以外，不准別的人跟著。他們來到會堂主管的家裡，耶穌看見一片混亂，有人哭泣，有人哀號。耶穌進去對他們說：「為什麼慌亂哭泣呢？孩子不是死了，而是睡了。」他們就譏笑耶穌。耶穌把他們都趕出去，只帶著孩子的父母和一起來的人，進入孩子所在的地方。

西門——耶穌又稱他為彼得，他的弟弟安得烈，又有雅各、約翰、腓力、巴多羅邁、

彼得叫大家都出去，然後跪下禱告，接著轉過身對著遺體，說：「塔比莎，你起來！」那婦人就睜開眼睛，看見彼得，而且坐了起來。
