耶稣就和他们同去。离那家不远，百夫长托几个朋友去见耶稣，对他说：“主啊，不必劳驾，因你到舍下来，我不敢当。

有一个会堂主管，名叫叶鲁，来俯伏在耶稣脚前，求耶稣到他家里去，因为他有一个独生女，约十二岁，快要死了。耶稣去的时候，众人簇拥着他。有一个女人，患了经血不止的病有十二年，在医生手里花尽了一生所有的，但没有人能治好她。

但亚哈斯说：“我不求；我不试探耶和华。”

耶稣还在说话的时候，有人从会堂主管的家里来，说：“你的女儿死了，何必还劳驾老师呢？”耶稣不理会他们所说的话，就对会堂主管说：“不要怕，只要信！”于是他带着彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟约翰同去，不许别人跟着他。他们来到会堂主管的家里，耶稣看到一片吵闹，并有人大声哭泣哀号，就进到里面，对他们说：“为什么大吵大哭呢？孩子不是死了，是睡着了。”他们就嘲笑耶稣。耶稣把他们都赶出去，带着孩子的父母和跟随的人进了孩子所在的地方，就拉着孩子的手，对她说：“大利大，古米！”翻出来就是说：“女孩，我吩咐你，起来！”那女孩子立刻起来走动—她已经十二岁了；他们就非常惊奇。耶稣切切地嘱咐他们，不要让人知道这事，又吩咐给她东西吃。

耶稣到了会堂主管的家里，看见吹鼓手和乱哄哄的一群人，就说：“退去吧！这女孩不是死了，而是睡着了。”他们就嘲笑他。众人被赶出后，耶稣就进去，拉着她的手，女孩就起来了。于是这消息传遍了那地方。

那人在里面回答：‘不要打扰我，门已经关了，孩子们也同我在床上了，我不能起来给你。’
