Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”

“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared— whose will they be?’“ That’s how it is with the one who stores up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

“ Let these words sink in: The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.”

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become a fool so that he can become wise.

For this reason, we must pay attention all the more to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away.

If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, he should recognize that what I write to you is the Lord’s command.

There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death.

So he called the manager in and asked,‘ What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you can no longer be my manager.’“ Then the manager said to himself,‘ What will I do since my master is taking the management away from me? I’m not strong enough to dig; I’m ashamed to beg.I know what I’ll do so that when I’m removed from management, people will welcome me into their homes.’

The people here were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, since they received the word with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger,for human anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness.Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent, humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror.For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was.But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who works— this person will be blessed in what he does.If anyone thinks he is religious without controlling his tongue, his religion is useless and he deceives himself.

listening closely to wisdom and directing your heart to understanding;furthermore, if you call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding,if you seek it like silver and search for it like hidden treasure,then you will understand the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.

he said to them,“ Take to heart all these words I am giving as a warning to you today, so that you may command your children to follow all the words of this law carefully.For they are not meaningless words to you but they are your life, and by them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”

On that day many will say to me,‘ Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’Then I will announce to them,‘ I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers!’

For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.

“ When you see the abomination of desolation standing where it should not be”( let the reader understand),“ then those in Judea must flee to the mountains.

If I speak human or angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.And if I give away all my possessions, and if I give over my body in order to boast but do not have love, I gain nothing.

If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen.”And he said to them,“ Pay attention to what you hear. By the measure you use, it will be measured to you— and more will be added to you.For whoever has, more will be given to him, and whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

If anyone thinks he knows anything, he does not yet know it as he ought to know it.

although I have reasons for confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more:

So I immediately sent for you, and it was good of you to come. So now we are all in the presence of God to hear everything you have been commanded by the Lord.”

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all slander.Like newborn infants, desire the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow up into your salvation,

“ There was a rich man who would dress in purple and fine linen, feasting lavishly every day.But a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, was lying at his gate.He longed to be filled with what fell from the rich man’s table, but instead the dogs would come and lick his sores.One day the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.And being in torment in Hades, he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off, with Lazarus at his side.‘ Father Abraham!’ he called out,‘ Have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this flame!’“‘ Son,’ Abraham said,‘ remember that during your life you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.
