When they heard this, all the people— even the tax collectors— agreed that God’s way was right, for they had been baptized by John.

庶民及稅吏、聽而受洗於約翰、且稱頌天主之義、

眾與稅吏、咸受洗於如望、聞其言莫不稱頌天主至德；

( All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John.

All the people who heard Jesus’ words agreed that God’s way was right. Even the tax collectors agreed. These people had all been baptized by John.

( When all the people heard this, and the tax collectors too, they declared God just, having been baptized with the baptism of John,

( And when all the people, including the tax collectors, heard this, they acknowledged God’s way of righteousness, because they had been baptized with John’s baptism.

When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they acknowledged God’s justice, having been baptized with the baptism of John.

And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John.

And all the people when they heard, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.

( Now all the people who heard this, even the tax collectors, acknowledged God’s justice, because they had been baptized with John’s baptism.

When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they declared God to be just, having been baptized with John’s baptism.

Even corrupt tax collectors came to be baptized and asked,“ Teacher, what should we do?”

But wisdom is shown to be right by the lives of those who follow it.”

And they were singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb:“ Great and marvelous are your works, O Lord God, the Almighty. Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations.

Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him,“ You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.”“ But,” some might say,“ our sinfulness serves a good purpose, for it helps people see how righteous God is. Isn’t it unfair, then, for him to punish us?”( This is merely a human point of view.)Of course not! If God were not entirely fair, how would he be qualified to judge the world?

He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. However, he knew only about John’s baptism.

Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just.

“ Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked. And they replied,“ The baptism of John.”

“ Which of the two obeyed his father?” They replied,“ The first.” Then Jesus explained his meaning:“ I tell you the truth, corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the Kingdom of God before you do.For John the Baptist came and showed you the right way to live, but you didn’t believe him, while tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even when you saw this happening, you refused to believe him and repent of your sins.

And I heard the angel who had authority over all water saying,“ You are just, O Holy One, who is and who always was, because you have sent these judgments.

For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.

People from Jerusalem and from all of Judea and all over the Jordan Valley went out to see and hear John.And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River.

Adoni bezek said,“ I once had seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off, eating scraps from under my table. Now God has paid me back for what I did to them.” They took him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
