拿鹤活到二十九岁，生了他拉。拿鹤生他拉之后又活了一百一十九年，并且生儿育女。他拉活到七十岁，生了亚伯兰、拿鹤和哈兰。这是他拉的后代。他拉生亚伯兰、拿鹤和哈兰；哈兰生罗得。哈兰死在他父亲他拉的面前，死在他的出生地迦勒底的吾珥。亚伯兰、拿鹤各娶了妻。亚伯兰的妻子名叫撒莱，拿鹤的妻子名叫密迦，是哈兰的女儿。哈兰是密迦和亦迦的父亲。撒莱不生育，没有孩子。他拉带着他儿子亚伯兰和他孙子，哈兰的儿子罗得，以及他的媳妇，亚伯兰的妻子撒莱，一同出了迦勒底的吾珥，要往迦南地去；他们来到哈兰，就住在那里。他拉共活了二百零五年，就死在哈兰。

闪，亚法撒，沙拉，希伯，法勒，拉吴，西鹿，拿鹤，他拉，亚伯兰，亚伯兰就是亚伯拉罕。亚伯拉罕的儿子是以撒和以实玛利。

约书亚对众百姓说：“耶和华—以色列的神如此说：‘古时你们的列祖，就是亚伯拉罕和拿鹤的父亲他拉，住在大河那边事奉别神。

亚伯拉罕生以撒；以撒的儿子是以扫和以色列。
