安息日後夜裏、當安息週第一日天快亮的時候、抹大拉的馬利亞和那另一個馬利亞來了，要看那墓。忽然地大震動；因為有主的一個使者從天上下來，走上前去，把石頭輥開，坐在上面。他的像貌如同閃電，他的衣服白得像雪。由於怕他的緣故，看守的人都發抖震顫，像死人一般。天使應時對婦女說：『別懼怕了！我知道你們是尋找那釘十字架的耶穌的。他不在這裏；他已經活起來了，照他所說過的。你們來，看他被安放的地方。趕緊去告訴他的門徒說：「他從死人中活了起來了；看吧，他在你們以先往加利利去；在那裏你們可以看見他。」請注意我所告訴你們的。』她們就趕緊離開墳墓，又敬畏、又大大歡喜，跑去報告他的門徒。

還有幾個曾得治好、脫離邪靈和疾病的婦女：其中有稱為抹大拉的馬利亞、曾有七個鬼從她身上出來的、和希律的理事苦撒的妻子約亞拿、跟蘇撒拿和許多別的婦女、就是常用自己的資財供應耶穌和門徒的。

有許多婦女在那裏，從遠處觀看着：她們是從加利利跟着耶穌來服事他的。其中有抹大拉的馬利亞、雅各和約瑟的母親馬利亞，和西庇太倆兒子的母親。

過了安息日，抹大拉的馬利亞和雅各的母親馬利亞、跟撒羅米，就買了香料，要去抹耶穌。安息週的第一日，大清早，她們上塋墓來，日剛剛出。她們彼此說：『誰可以給我們把石頭從墳墓門輥開呢？』望上一看，卻見石頭已經輥回去了！那石頭原是極大。他們進了墳墓，看見一個青年人坐在右邊，披着白袍；她們非常驚訝。那青年人對他們說：『別驚訝了；你們尋找那釘十字架的拿撒勒人耶穌；他已經活起來了；他不在這裏；請看他們安放他的地方。但是你們要去，告訴他的門徒和彼得說，他先你們往加利利去；在那裏你們可以看見他，照他所告訴你們的』。她們就出來，從墳墓那裏逃跑，因為戰慄和驚奇抓着她們。她們甚麼也沒有告訴人，因為她們害怕。
