彼得對耶穌說：『主啊，我就使同你走到監獄，甚至走到死地，也準備好了。』耶穌說：『彼得，我告訴你，今天雞還沒有叫，你就要三次否認我、說不認識我了。』

兵隊和千夫長跟猶太人的差役就捉拿耶穌，把他捆住，先帶到亞那面前；因為亞那是那年做大祭司的該亞法的岳父，該亞法是那位給猶太人出過主意說：『一個人替人民死、是對人民有益的。』西門彼得跟着耶穌，另一個門徒也跟着。那門徒是跟大祭司認識的；他同耶穌進了大祭司的院子：彼得卻在門外站着。當下跟大祭司認識的那另一個門徒出來，向看門的女人說一聲，就帶彼得進去。那看門的使女就對彼得說：『你不也是這人的一個門徒麼？』彼得說：『我不是。』

於是亞那把耶穌（仍是捆着）送到大祭司該亞法那裏。

所以巴比倫公侯的大使奉差來見希西家、要查問猶大地所發生的兆頭；在這件事上帝也放任希西家隨意而行，為的是要試驗他，好知道他內心所隱藏的是甚麼。
