錫安哪，我因與你立約的血，要從無水坑裏釋放你中間被囚的人。

摩西把血灑在百姓身上，說：「看哪！這是立約的血，是耶和華按照這一切的命令和你們立約的憑據。」

但願賜平安的神，就是那憑永約之血，把羣羊的大牧人－我們主耶穌從死人中領出來的神，

因為這是我立約的血，為許多人流出來，使罪得赦。

他使我們能配作新約的執事，不是文字上的約，而是聖靈的約；因為文字使人死，聖靈能使人活。

因為人死了，遺囑才有效力；立遺囑的人尚在，遺囑就不能生效。

並新約的中保耶穌，以及所灑的血；這血所說的信息比亞伯的血所說的更美。

如今耶穌已經得了更優越的事奉，正如他作更美之約的中保；這約原是憑更美之應許立的。第一個約若沒有瑕疵，就無須尋求第二個約了。所以神指責他們說：「主說，看哪，日子將到，我要與以色列家和猶大家另立新的約；不像我拉着他們祖宗的手領他們出埃及地的時候，與他們所立的約；因為他們不恆心守我的約，所以我也不理他們；這是主說的。主又說：那些日子以後，我與以色列家所立的約是這樣：我要將我的律法放在他們的心思裏，寫在他們的心上；我要作他們的神，他們要作我的子民。他們各人不用教導自己的鄉親和自己的弟兄，說：你要認識主；因為從最小的到最大的，他們都要認識我。我要寬恕他們的不義，絕不再記得他們的罪惡。」既然神提到「新的約」，那麼第一個約就成為舊的了；而那漸舊漸衰的必然很快消逝了。

我們所祝謝的杯，豈不是同領基督的血嗎？我們所擘開的餅，豈不是同領基督的身體嗎？因為餅只是一個，我們雖然人多，仍是一體，我們同享一個餅。你們看那按肉體是以色列人的，那些吃祭物的人豈不是與祭壇有份嗎？那麼，我怎麼說呢？是說祭偶像之物算得了甚麼嗎？或說偶像算得了甚麼嗎？不，我是說，他們所獻的祭是祭鬼，不是祭神；我不願意你們與鬼來往。你們不能喝主的杯，又喝鬼的杯；不能吃主的筵席，又吃鬼的筵席。

為此，基督作了新約的中保；因為他的死，贖了人在第一個約之時所犯的罪過，使蒙召的人能得着所應許永遠的產業。

「看哪，日子將到，我要與以色列家和猶大家另立新的約。這是耶和華說的。
