食後取爵亦然、曰：此爵乃吾血所立之新約、爾等每飲、當行此禮、以誌永懷。

願平安之天主、曩憑永約之血、使吾主耶穌基督自死者中復活、而為群羊之大牧者、

此予之血、為洗除眾人之罪而流者、亦即新約之盟血也。

不寧惟是、使吾儕足以任新約之役者、亦惟天主而已。此約也、非本乎文字、乃本乎聖神。蓋文字乃肅殺之具、而聖神則生命之源也。

死而後其遺囑始生效、未有其人尚存、而其遺囑已生效者。

有為新約仲介之耶穌焉、有耶穌所灑之寶血焉；此血也、其所發之言、非復亞伯之血所得同日而語矣。

今耶穌所掌大司祭之職、實非若輩所得同日而語；正如彼所為仲介之盟約、與夫斯約所根據之恩諾、悉非舊緒所得而比擬也。使舊約已屬完美無缺、應無另立新約之餘地；顧天主嘗責先人曰：『主曰：「時將至、爾其拭目視！吾與義塞及猶太、亟欲訂立新盟約。曩者吾攜厥祖出埃及、亦有所締結。若輩不守吾約遭擯棄、新約迥與舊約異！」主曰：「時既至、當與義塞約如次欲將吾誡命、置彼腔子裏；真諦與妙道、深深銘腑肺；我為彼主宰、彼為我子民其時人人心中皆識主、無庸國人昆弟相提醒；人無大與小、悉與我相親；吾願寬宥其諸惡、不欲再念其罪行。」』夫既曰新約、則舊者之見廢明矣。蓋天下之事、陳舊而呈衰老之象者、其離死亡不遠矣。

夫吾人所聖之寶爵、非吾人共飲之基督聖血乎？吾人所分之餅、又非吾人共領之基督聖體乎？是知吾人雖眾、既共享一餅、則同屬一餅、而合為一體矣。曷一觀義塞同族人之所為乎：若輩共食祭物者、非即同一祭壇之人乎。然則何如？豈謂祭肉足以浼我乎？抑吾目中尚有偶像其物乎？非也！然外教人所祭獻之物、乃獻於魔鬼、而非獻於天主也。吾固不願爾等之與魔鬼有所共享也。爾等既飲主之爵、豈可又飲魔鬼之爵；既與主共席、能復與魔鬼共席乎？

且其所以為新約之仲介者、亦欲以一己之死、贖人於舊約下所犯之眾罪、而令蒙召者得承受所許之永遠基業耳。
