所以你們要警醒，因為不知道那日子和那時間。

耶穌對他們講一個比喻，論到人必須常常祈禱，不可灰心。

願榮耀、威嚴、能力、權柄，藉著我們的主耶穌基督，從萬世以前，及現在，直到永永遠遠，歸給獨一的神我們的救主。他能保守你們不至跌倒，使你們毫無瑕疵、歡然站在他榮光之前。阿們。

萬物的結局近了，所以你們要謹慎警醒地禱告。

主人來到了，看見僕人警醒，這些僕人就有福了。我實在告訴你們，主人必親自束腰，招待他們吃飯，進前來侍候他們。主人也許半夜之前，或天亮之前回來，看見他們這樣，這些僕人就有福了。你們都知道，家主若曉得竊賊甚麼時候來，就不會讓他摸進屋裡。你們也要準備妥當，因為在想不到的時候，人子就來了。”

所以要穿起神所賜的全副軍裝，使你們在這邪惡的時代裡可以抵擋得住，並且在作完了一切之後，還能站立得穩。因此，你們要站穩，用真理當帶子束腰，披上公義的胸甲，

他以全能者為樂，時時求告神嗎？

不住禱告，

這正是神公義判斷的明證，使你們可以算是配得上他的國；你們也是為了神的國而受苦。神既然是公義的，主耶穌和他有能力的天使從天上顯現在火燄中的時候，就使你們這些受災難的人，可以和我們同享安息；卻以災難報應那些把災難加給你們的人。

可是，他來的日子，誰能當得起呢？他顯現的時候，誰能站立得住呢？因為他像煉金之人的火，又像漂布之人的鹼。

藉著各樣的禱告和祈求，隨時在聖靈裡祈禱，並且要在這事上恆久警醒，為眾聖徒祈求。也要為我祈求，使我傳講的時候，得著當說的話，可以坦然無懼地講明福音的奧祕，

他是一個虔誠的人，他和全家都敬畏神，對人民行過許多善事，常常向神禱告。

你們要恆切禱告，在禱告的時候存著感恩的心警醒；

你卻要凡事謹慎，忍受磨難、作傳福音者的工作，完成你的職務。

因此，在審判的時候，惡人必站立不住；在義人的團體中，罪人也必這樣。

但配得那世界的，又配從死人中復活的人，也不娶也不嫁。
