Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question.

And as they spake unto the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,being sore troubled because they taught the people, and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.And when the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

And there come unto him Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,Teacher, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave a wife behind him, and leave no child, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.There were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed;and the second took her, and died, leaving no seed behind him; and the third likewise:and the seven left no seed. Last of all the woman also died.In the resurrection whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.Jesus said unto them, Is it not for this cause that ye err, that ye know not the scriptures, nor the power of God?For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as angels in heaven.But as touching the dead, that they are raised; have ye not read in the book of Moses, in the place concerning the Bush, how God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?He is not the God of the dead, but of the living: ye do greatly err.

And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and trying him asked him to show them a sign from heaven.

But the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him( which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy,

But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Brethren, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees: touching the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and Sadducees; and the assembly was divided.For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

And Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Then understood they that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

and their word will eat as doth a gangrene: of whom is Hymenæus and Philetus;men who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already, and overthrow the faith of some.
