This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for unbelievers,“ A stone which the builders rejected, This became the chief cornerstone,”and,“ A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this they were also appointed.

but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness,

And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and on whomever it falls, it will crush him.”

Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; Whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right, And the righteous will walk in them, But wrongdoers will stumble in them.

Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,and asked for letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them in shackles to Jerusalem.Now as he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”And he said,“ Who are You, Lord?” And He said,“ I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,but get up and enter the city, and it will be told to you what you must do.”The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus.And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.Now there was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision,“ Ananias.” And he said,“ Here I am, Lord.”And the Lord said to him,“ Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying,and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight.”But Ananias answered,“ Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints in Jerusalem;and here he has authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on Your name.”But the Lord said to him,“ Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;for I will show him how much he must suffer in behalf of My name.”So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said,“ Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”And immediately something like fish scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized;and he took food and was strengthened. Now for several days he was with the disciples who were in Damascus,and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying,“ He is the Son of God.”

Then He will become a sanctuary; But to both houses of Israel, He will be a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, And a snare and a trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.Many will stumble over them, Then they will fall and be broken; They will be snared and caught.”

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say,‘ Behold, a gluttonous man and a heavy drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ And yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”

Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them, and he stepped down after making the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings.And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting. When they came out and blessed the people, the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people.

For we have found this man a public menace and one who stirs up dissensions among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.

Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us,looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the Lord and against His Christ.’

But without any dispute the lesser person is blessed by the greater.

For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

But we desire to hear from you what your views are; for regarding this sect, it is known to us that it is spoken against everywhere.”

For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the taunts of those who taunt You have fallen on me.When I wept in my soul with fasting, It became my disgrace.When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a proverb to them.Those who sit in the gate talk about me, And songs of mockery by those habitually drunk are about me.

For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing:to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things?

Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ— this Jesus whom you crucified.”Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ Brothers, what are we to do?”Peter said to them,“ Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on urging them, saying,“ Be saved from this perverse generation!”So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

The word of God kept spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.

While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him.

And Moses examined all the work, and behold, they had done it; just as the Lord had commanded, this they had done. So Moses blessed them.

And he blessed him and said,“ Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;

and saying,“ You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking Him and saying,“ He saved others; He cannot save Himself! He is the King of Israel; let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him.He has trusted in God; let God rescue Him now, if He takes pleasure in Him; for He said,‘ I am the Son of God.’ ”And the rebels who had been crucified with Him were also insulting Him in the same way.Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory, and of God, rests upon you.

For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, so that his deeds will not be exposed.

Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though they could by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,

When they did not find them, they began dragging Jason and some brothers before the city authorities, shouting,“ These men who have upset the world have come here also;

The Jews answered and said to Him,“ Do we not rightly say that You are a Samaritan, and You have a demon?”Jesus answered,“ I do not have a demon; on the contrary, I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me.But I am not seeking My glory; there is One who seeks it, and judges.Truly, truly I say to you, if anyone follows My word, he will never see death.”The Jews said to Him,“ Now we know that You have a demon. Then the high priest tore his robes and said,“ He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? See, you have now heard the blasphemy;what do you think?” They answered,“ He deserves death!”Then they spit in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him,

For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

but put to death the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.“ And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers also did.But the things which God previously announced by the mouths of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has fulfilled in this way.Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are for signs and wonders in Israel from the Lord of armies, who dwells on Mount Zion.

But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming.

But I am a worm and not a person, A disgrace of mankind and despised by the people.All who see me deride me; They sneer, they shake their heads, saying,“ Turn him over to the Lord; let Him save him; Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.”
