When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling.

On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves,and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts.And as he taught them, he said,“ Is it not written:‘ My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it‘ a den of robbers.’” (niv)

When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money.So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.To those who sold doves he said,“ Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!”His disciples remembered that it is written:“ Zeal for your house will consume me.” (niv)

then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose.Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice. (niv)
