Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus,“ Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd,“ Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”

And some of the Pharisees from the multitude said unto him, Teacher, rebuke thy disciples.

“ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. (niv)

“ What are we going to do with these men?” they asked.“ Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign, and we cannot deny it.But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name.”Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people.They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. (niv)

Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? (niv)

So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, (niv)

So the Pharisees said to one another,“ See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!” (niv)

But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts,“ Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.“ Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.“ Yes,” replied Jesus,“ have you never read,“‘ From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?” (niv)

Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin.“ What are we accomplishing?” they asked.“ Here is this man performing many signs.If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.” (niv)

Lord, your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people and be put to shame; let the fire reserved for your enemies consume them. (niv)
