You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

What profit should we have, if we pray to him?’

For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.For there are no struggles in their death, but their strength is firm.They are free from burdens of men, neither are they plagued like other men.Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment.Their eyes bulge with fat. Their minds pass the limits of conceit.

I will pull down my barns, build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.I will tell my soul,“ Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.”’“ But God said to him,‘ You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared— whose will they be?’So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

The weight of the golden earrings that he requested was one thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold, in addition to the crescents, and the pendants, and the purple clothing that was on the kings of Midian, and in addition to the chains that were about their camels’ necks.

Thus you were decked with gold and silver. Your clothing was of fine linen, silk, and embroidered work. You ate fine flour, honey, and oil. You were exceedingly beautiful, and you prospered to royal estate.

saying,‘ Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!
