and saying,“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.This is the one about whom it is written:“‘ I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”( All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John.

Philip found Nathanael and told him,“ We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote— Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

As you go, proclaim this message:‘ The kingdom of heaven has come near.’

From that time on Jesus began to preach,“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God.

“ Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days.And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham,‘ Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’

‘ Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.’

But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer.

Heal the sick who are there and tell them,‘ The kingdom of God has come near to you.’

and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

“ He said to him,‘ If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

“ Abraham replied,‘ They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.”

So the Pharisees said to one another,“ See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
