If they are bound in chains and caught up in a web of trouble,he shows them the reason. He shows them their sins of pride.He gets their attention and commands that they turn from evil.

But in that land of exile, they might turn to you in repentance and pray,‘ We have sinned, done evil, and acted wickedly.’If they turn to you with their whole heart and soul in the land of their enemies and pray toward the land you gave to their ancestors— toward this city you have chosen, and toward this Temple I have built to honor your name—

Surely you are still our Father! Even if Abraham and Jacob would disown us, Lord, you would still be our Father. You are our Redeemer from ages past.

The day will come when watchmen will shout from the hill country of Ephraim,‘ Come, let us go up to Jerusalem to worship the Lord our God.’”Now this is what the Lord says:“ Sing with joy for Israel. Shout for the greatest of nations! Shout out with praise and joy:‘ Save your people, O Lord, the remnant of Israel!’For I will bring them from the north and from the distant corners of the earth. I will not forget the blind and lame, the expectant mothers and women in labor. A great company will return!Tears of joy will stream down their faces, and I will lead them home with great care. They will walk beside quiet streams and on smooth paths where they will not stumble. For I am Israel’s father, and Ephraim is my oldest child.

Don’t fail to discipline your children. The rod of punishment won’t kill them.

He will declare to his friends,‘ I sinned and twisted the truth, but it was not worth it.God rescued me from the grave, and now my life is filled with light.’

Now there were four men with leprosy sitting at the entrance of the city gates.“ Why should we sit here waiting to die?” they asked each other.“ We will starve if we stay here, but with the famine in the city, we will starve if we go back there. But while in deep distress, Manasseh sought the Lord his God and sincerely humbled himself before the God of his ancestors.And when he prayed, the Lord listened to him and was moved by his request. So the Lord brought Manasseh back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh finally realized that the Lord alone is God!

Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.

Manasseh’s prayer, the account of the way God answered him, and an account of all his sins and unfaithfulness are recorded in The Record of the Seers. It includes a list of the locations where he built pagan shrines and set up Asherah poles and idols before he humbled himself and repented.

And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River.

For the honor of your name, O Lord, forgive my many, many sins.

“ Is not Israel still my son, my darling child?” says the Lord.“ I often have to punish him, but I still love him. That’s why I long for him and surely will have mercy on him.

“ If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

But the stump and roots of the tree were left in the ground. This means that you will receive your kingdom back again when you have learned that heaven rules.

Let them lie face down in the dust, for there may be hope at last.

I cry out,“ My splendor is gone! Everything I had hoped for from the Lord is lost!”The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words.I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss.Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this:The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.

Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for your sins have brought you down.Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord. Say to him,“ Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us, so that we may offer you our praises.Assyria cannot save us, nor can our warhorses. Never again will we say to the idols we have made,‘ You are our gods.’ No, in you alone do the orphans find mercy.”

Who can tell? Perhaps even yet God will change his mind and hold back his fierce anger from destroying us.”

Then I said,‘ O Lord, you have driven me from your presence. Yet I will look once more toward your holy Temple.’

Jesus said,“ This is how you should pray:“ Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon.
