So Haman came in, and the king said to him,“ What should be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?” And Haman said to himself,“ Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?”And Haman said to the king,“ For the man whom the king delights to honor,let royal robes be brought, which the king has worn, and the horse that the king has ridden, and on whose head a royal crown is set.And let the robes and the horse be handed over to one of the king’s most noble officials. Let them dress the man whom the king delights to honor, and let them lead him on the horse through the square of the city, proclaiming before him:‘ Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.’”Then the king said to Haman,“ Hurry; take the robes and the horse, as you have said, and do so to Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Leave out nothing that you have mentioned.”So Haman took the robes and the horse, and he dressed Mordecai and led him through the square of the city, proclaiming before him,“ Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.”Then Mordecai returned to the king’s gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered.

“ Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God:“ Because your heart is proud, and you have said,‘ I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas,’ yet you are but a man, and no god, though you make your heart like the heart of a god—you are indeed wiser than Daniel; no secret is hidden from you;by your wisdom and your understanding you have made wealth for yourself, and have gathered gold and silver into your treasuries;by your great wisdom in your trade you have increased your wealth, and your heart has become proud in your wealth—therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you make your heart like the heart of a god,therefore, behold, I will bring foreigners upon you, the most ruthless of the nations; and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom and defile your splendor.They shall thrust you down into the pit, and you shall die the death of the slain in the heart of the seas.Will you still say,‘ I am a god,’ in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a man, and no god, in the hands of those who slay you?You shall die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of foreigners; for I have spoken, declares the Lord God.”

He was driven from among men and ate grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair grew as long as eagles’ feathers, and his nails were like birds’ claws.At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation;
