爾中孰有欲建一塔、而不預籌所需之費、以觀厥成者乎？

“ Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

“ Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you sit down first and figure out how much it will cost? Then you will see whether you have enough money to finish it.

For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?

“ But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?

你當在外面把工作預備好，在田間為自己準備妥當，然後才建造你的房屋。

為了我的名，你們將被所有的人憎恨，但是忍耐到底的，這個人將會得救。

耶穌對他說：「狐狸有洞，天空的飛鳥有窩，人子卻沒有枕頭的地方。」

這時候保羅說：「你們為什麼哭，使我心碎呢？我為了主耶穌的名，不僅被捆綁，即使死在耶路撒冷，也都預備好了。」

事實上，我們還在你們那裡的時候，早就不斷地告訴你們，我們將要受患難，這果然應驗了，就像你們所知道的那樣。為此，我既然不能再等了，就派提摩太去，要知道你們的信仰怎樣，恐怕那試探者誘惑了你們，我們所勞苦的落了空。

耶穌就回答說：「你們不知道自己在求什麼。我將要喝的杯，你們能喝嗎？」他們說：「我們能。」耶穌對他們說：「我的杯你們固然要喝，但坐在我的右邊或左邊，不是我所賜的，而是我父已經預備給誰，就賜給誰。」

我認為，只要我還在這帳篷裡，就理當用提醒的話來激發你們，因為我知道我脫離這帳篷的時候快到了，就像我們的主耶穌基督也曾向我指明的。

他們又說：「來吧！讓我們為自己建造一座城和一座塔，塔頂通天，好為自己立名，免得我們分散在整個地面上。」耶和華降臨，要看世人建造的城和塔。耶和華說：「看哪，他們是一族，又說一樣的語言，而且一開始就做這樣的事，此後他們決意做任何事，就沒有做不成的！來吧！讓我們下去，在那裡把他們的語言變亂，使他們彼此聽不懂對方的語言。」於是耶和華把他們從那裡分散到整個地面上，他們就停止建造那城。因此那城名叫巴別，因為在那裡耶和華變亂了全地人的語言，又從那裡把他們分散到整個地面上。
