要安排好外面的事，把田間的工作準備妥當，然後建造房屋。

約書亞說：「你們不能事奉耶和華，祂是一位聖潔的上帝，祂痛恨不貞，必不赦免你們的過犯和罪惡。如果你們背棄耶和華，去拜外族的神明，儘管祂曾經恩待你們，也必降禍給你們，毀滅你們。」民眾答道：「不，我們一定要事奉耶和華。」約書亞說：「現在你們自己作證，你們已選擇事奉耶和華。」民眾答道：「我們願意自己作證。」約書亞說：「這樣，你們現在就要摒棄你們中間的外族神明，專心歸向以色列的上帝耶和華。」民眾答道：「我們必事奉我們的上帝耶和華，聽從祂的話。」

你們將為我的名而被眾人憎恨，但堅忍到底的必定得救。

「同樣，你們若不撇下一切，就不能作我的門徒。

耶穌說：「狐狸有洞，飛鳥有窩，人子卻沒有安枕之處。」

但保羅說：「你們為什麼這樣哭泣，令我心碎呢？我為主耶穌的名甘願受捆綁，甚至死在耶路撒冷。」

我們在你們那裡時曾預先告訴過你們，我們會遭遇患難，你們知道後來果然如此。因此，我無法再等下去了，就派提摩太到你們那裡看看你們的信心如何，免得那誘惑人的誘惑了你們，使我們的心血都白費了。

耶穌回答說：「你們不知道自己在求什麼。我要喝的那一杯，你們能喝嗎？」他們說：「我們能。」耶穌對他們說：「我要喝的那一杯，你們也要喝。不過誰坐在我的左右不是我來定，而是我父為誰預備的，就讓誰坐。」

我覺得應當趁著我還在世的時候提醒你們，激勵你們，因我知道自己離世的日子已經不遠了，正如我們的主耶穌基督指示我的。

說：「來吧，讓我們造一座城和一座高聳入雲的塔，這樣我們可以揚名天下，不致分散在地上。」耶和華從天上下來，要察看人建造的城和塔。耶和華說：「看啊，他們同屬一個民族，都用同一種語言，現在就做這樣的事，如果繼續下去，他們會為所欲為。讓我們下去變亂他們的語言，使他們彼此言語不通。」於是，耶和華把他們從那裡分散到世界各地，他們便不再建造那城了。因此，人稱那城為巴別，因為耶和華在那裡變亂了人類的語言，把他們分散到世界各地。
