Again a division took place among the Jews because of these words.Many of them were saying,“ He has a demon and He’s crazy! Why do you listen to Him?”Others were saying,“ These aren’t the words of someone demon-possessed. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”

Do not rely on a friend; don’t trust in a close companion. Seal your mouth from the woman who lies in your arms.Surely a son considers his father a fool, a daughter opposes her mother, and a daughter-in-law is against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own household.

Even my friend in whom I trusted, one who ate my bread, has raised his heel against me.

After the synagogue had been dismissed, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who were speaking with them and persuading them to continue in the grace of God.The following Sabbath almost the whole town assembled to hear the message of the Lord.But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to oppose what Paul was saying by insulting him.Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said:“ It was necessary that God’s message be spoken to you first. But since you reject it and consider yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles!

Others said,“ This is the Messiah!” But some said,“ Surely the Messiah doesn’t come from Galilee, does He?Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David’s offspring and from the town of Bethlehem, where David once lived?”So a division occurred among the crowd because of Him.

They will ban you from the synagogues. In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering service to God.
