祭司的嘴當保存知識，人要從他的口中尋求教訓，因為他是萬軍耶和華的使者。

為了避免這件事在民間越傳越廣，我們應該警告他們，不許再奉這名向任何人談道。”於是叫了他們來，嚴禁他們再奉耶穌的名講論教導。

於是法利賽人第二次把那從前瞎眼的人叫來，對他說：“你應當歸榮耀給神，我們知道這人是個罪人。”那人回答：“他是不是個罪人，我不知道；我只知道一件事，就是我本來是瞎眼的，現在能看見了。”他們就問：“他向你作了甚麼呢？他怎樣開了你的眼睛呢？”他回答：“我已經告訴你們，但是你們不聽；為甚麼現在又想聽呢？你們也想成為他的門徒嗎？”他們就罵他，說：“你才是他的門徒，我們是摩西的門徒。我們知道神曾對摩西說話；只是這個人，我們不知道他從哪裡來。”那人對他們說：“這就奇怪了，他開了我的眼睛，你們竟然不知道他從哪裡來。我們知道神不聽罪人的祈求，只聽那敬畏神，遵行他旨意的人。自古以來，沒有人聽過生下來就是瞎眼的，有人可以開他們的眼睛。這人若不是從神那裡來的，他就不能作甚麼。”他們說：“你的確是在罪中生的，還敢教訓我們嗎？”就把他趕出去。

法利賽人說：“連你們也受了欺騙嗎？官長或法利賽人中間有誰是信他的呢？至於這群不明白律法的人，他們是可咒詛的。”他們當中有一個人，就是以前來見耶穌的尼哥德慕，對他們說：“如果不先聽取他本人的口供，查明他所作的事，我們的律法怎能把他定罪呢？”他們回答：“你也是從加利利出來的嗎？你去考查一下，就知道先知是不會從加利利興起的。”

律法師中有一個回答他：“老師，你這樣說，把我們也侮辱了！”耶穌說：“你們律法師也有禍了，因為你們把難擔的擔子叫人擔，自己連一個指頭也不動。

群眾中有幾個法利賽人對他說：“先生，責備你的門徒吧！”耶穌說：“我告訴你們，他們若不出聲，石頭都要呼叫了。”

就傳使徒進來，鞭打一頓，禁止他們奉耶穌的名傳講，就把他們釋放了。
