耶稣照常到橄榄山去，门徒也跟着他。到了那里，他对门徒说：“你们应当祷告，免得陷入试探。”于是耶稣离开他们约有扔一块石头那么远，跪下祷告说：“父啊，如果你愿意，就把这杯拿走！但不要成就我的意思，只要成就你的旨意。”（有些抄本有第43、44节：“有一位天使从天上显现，加给他力量。耶稣非常伤痛，祷告更加恳切，汗如大血点滴在地上。”）

但你们呢，亲爱的，你们要在至圣的信仰上建立自己，在圣灵里祷告，

耶和华啊！困苦人的心愿你已经听见，你必坚固他们的心，也必留心听他们的呼求；

有一次耶稣独自祈祷的时候，只有门徒和他在一起。他问他们：“人说我是谁？”

在那些日子，有一次耶稣出去到山上祷告，整夜祷告神。

照样，圣灵也在我们的软弱上帮助我们。原来我们不晓得应当怎样祷告，但圣灵亲自用不可言喻的叹息，替我们祈求。那鉴察人心的，晓得圣灵的心意，因为圣灵照着神的旨意替圣徒祈求。

说了这些话以后约有八天，耶稣带着彼得、约翰和雅各，上山去祷告。

耶和华我的磐石、我的救赎主啊！愿我口中的言语、心里的意念，都在你面前蒙悦纳。

你们放纵贪欲，如果得不到，就杀人；你们嫉妒，如果一无所得，就打斗争执。你们得不到，因为你们不求；你们求也得不到，因为你们的动机不良，要把所得的耗费在你们的私欲上。

基督在世的时候，曾经流泪大声祷告恳求那位能救他脱离死亡的神；因着他的敬虔，就蒙了应允。
