耶稣离开，像往常一样前往橄榄山，门徒也跟去了。到了山上，祂对门徒说：“你们要祷告，以免陷入诱惑！”然后，祂独自走到离门徒约有扔一块石头那么远的地方跪下祷告：“父啊，若你愿意，求你撤去此杯。然而，愿你的旨意成就，而非我的意愿。”有一位从天上来的天使向祂显现，给祂加添力量。祂心中极其悲痛，祷告更恳切，汗珠如血滴在地上。祂祷告完后，便起身回到门徒那里，看见他们因忧愁而疲惫地睡着了，

亲爱的弟兄姊妹，你们要在至圣的真道上造就自己，在圣灵的引导下祷告，

耶和华啊，你知道困苦人的愿望，你必垂听他们的呼求，安慰他们。

有一次，耶稣独自祷告的时候，门徒也在旁边。耶稣问他们：“人们说我是谁？”

一天，耶稣到山上整夜向上帝祷告。

况且，我们软弱的时候，有圣灵帮助我们。我们本来不知道怎样祷告，但圣灵亲自用说不出来的叹息替我们祈祷。洞悉人心的上帝知道圣灵的意思，因为圣灵是照着上帝的旨意替圣徒祈祷。

讲完这些话后大约八天，耶稣带着彼得、约翰和雅各一同到山上祷告。

耶和华——我的磐石、我的救赎主啊，愿你喜悦我口中的言语、心中的意念。

你们贪心，得不到就去杀人。你们嫉妒，得不到就争吵、打斗。你们得不到是因为你们不向上帝祈求。你们求也得不到是因为你们动机不纯，只求享乐和满足自己的欲望。

基督在世为人的时候，曾经声泪俱下地祈求能救祂脱离死亡的上帝。祂因为敬虔而蒙了应允。
