And child, you will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare His ways,

此子將稱至上者之先知、為主前驅、以備其道、

惟汝嬰兒、必稱為至上者之先知、因爾將為主前驅、以備其路、

終我之身、聖德是務。

And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: Look, I am sending My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way.A voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way for the Lord; make His paths straight!

A voice of one crying out: Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert.Every valley will be lifted up, and every mountain and hill will be leveled; the uneven ground will become smooth and the rough places, a plain.And the glory of the Lord will appear, and all humanity together will see it, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Though he wanted to kill him, he feared the crowd, since they regarded him as a prophet.

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and far more than a prophet.This is the one it is written about: Look, I am sending My messenger ahead of You; he will prepare Your way before You.

The angel replied to her:“ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.

But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is gracious to the ungrateful and evil.

But if we say,‘ From men,’ we’re afraid of the crowd, because everyone thought John was a prophet.”

And it will be said of Zion,“ This one and that one were born in her.” The Most High Himself will establish her.

Look, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome Day of the Lord comes.

“ I baptize you with water for repentance, but the One who is coming after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove His sandals. He Himself will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

You yourselves can testify that I said,‘ I am not the Messiah, but I’ve been sent ahead of Him.’

This is the one it is written about: Look, I am sending My messenger ahead of You; he will prepare Your way before You.I tell you, among those born of women no one is greater than John, but the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah: A voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way for the Lord; make His paths straight!Every valley will be filled, and every mountain and hill will be made low; the crooked will become straight, the rough ways smooth,and everyone will see the salvation of God.

Before He came to public attention, John had previously proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.Then as John was completing his life’s work, he said,‘ Who do you think I am? I am not the One. But look! Someone is coming after me, and I am not worthy to untie the sandals on His feet.’

He is the One coming after me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to untie.”

He will turn many of the sons of Israel to the Lord their God.And he will go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.
