Moses slaughtered the bull and took some of the blood, and with his finger he put it on all the horns of the altar to purify the altar. He poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. So he consecrated it to make atonement for it.

Moses killed the bull. He dipped his finger into some of the blood. He put it on the horns that stick out from the upper four corners of the altar. He did it to make the altar pure. He poured out the rest of the blood at the bottom of the altar. So he set it apart to make it pure.

And he killed it, and Moses took the blood, and with his finger put it on the horns of the altar around it and purified the altar and poured out the blood at the base of the altar and consecrated it to make atonement for it.

從前，你們在邪惡的行為中與神隔絕，在意念中與他為敵；但如今，神在基督的血肉之軀上，藉著死使你們與他自己和好了，並且使你們站在他面前，是聖潔、毫無瑕疵、無可指責的。

原來不用血，第一個約也不能成立，就是說，摩西按照律法向全體民眾宣講了所有的誡命之後，拿了牛犢和山羊的血，摻上水，用深紅色的羊毛和牛膝草，灑在那書卷上和全體民眾身上，說：「這是立約的血，是神吩咐給你們的。」然後，他又同樣地把血灑在會幕和服事用的所有器皿上。按照律法，幾乎一切都是用血潔淨的；沒有流血，就沒有赦免。既然那些諸天之上事物的模型，必須用這些祭物來潔淨，那天上事物的本體就必須用比這些更好的祭物來潔淨，

「為了你的民，為了你的聖城，有七十個『七』被定下了，為要結束罪過，終止罪惡，贖清罪孽，帶來永遠的公義，封住異象和預言，膏抹至聖所。

這一切都是出於神，他藉著基督使我們與他自己和好，並且把這勸人與他和好的服事工作賜給了我們。這就是說，在基督裡，神使世人與自己和好，不把他們的過犯算在他們的身上，又把這和好的福音託付了我們。因此我們是基督的特使，就像神藉著我們在勸告人——我們代替基督請求說：「與神和好吧！」神使那位沒有罪的替我們成為罪，好使我們在他裡面成為神的義。

這樣，我們做神敵人的時候，尚且能藉著神兒子的死與神和好，何況和好以後，難道不更要藉著神兒子的生命得救嗎？

他在十字架上既然消除了仇恨，就藉著十字架使兩者得以在一個身體裡，與神和好；

故此，他必須在各方面都像他的弟兄們那樣，為要在屬神的事上成為憐憫人的、忠心的大祭司，好為子民的罪孽獻上平息祭。
