又叫两个匪徒坐在拿伯的对面，作见证控告他说：‘你曾经咒诅神和君王’；然后把他拉出去，用石头把他打死。”于是拿伯城里的人，就是那些与拿伯同住一城的长老和贵胄，都照着耶洗别送给他们的信上所写的去行。他们宣告禁食，使拿伯坐在民间的首席上。然后两个匪徒来坐在拿伯的对面。这两个流氓当众作见证控告拿伯，说：“拿伯曾经咒诅神和君王。”众人就把拿伯拉出城外，用石头打他，把他打死了。

他不以舌头诋毁人，不恶待朋友，也不毁谤他的邻居。

到处搬弄是非的，泄露秘密，心里诚实的，遮隐事情。

他们都是十分悖逆的人，到处搬弄是非。他们是铜是铁，他们都是败坏的。

“你们各人要提防自己的邻舍，不要信靠兄弟；因为每一个兄弟都在欺骗人，每一个邻舍都搬弄是非。

于是他们唆使众人，说：“我们听过他说谤渎摩西和神的话。”又煽动民众、长老、经学家，这些人就来捉拿他，把他带到公议会，并且造了假的证供说：“这人不断抨击圣地和律法。

“不可作假证供陷害你的邻舍。

所以要除去一切恶毒、一切诡诈、虚伪、嫉妒和一切毁谤的话，

虽然有许多人前来作假证供，却找不着证据。最后有两个人前来说：“这人说过：‘我可以拆毁神的圣所，三日之内又把它建造起来。’”

现在我不想多烦扰你，只求你宽容一下，听我们讲几句话。我们看这个人就像瘟疫一样，是煽动普天下犹太人生乱的人，又是拿撒勒派的首领。他还意图污秽圣殿，我们就把他捉住。（有些抄本在此有以下一段：“我们想按照我们的律法审问他。7可是千夫长吕西亚来了，用武力把他从我们手中抢走，8还吩咐原告到你这里来。”）

没有亲情、不肯和解、恶言中伤、不能自律、横蛮凶暴、不爱良善、

照样，他们的妻子（“他们的妻子”可解作“女执事”）也要庄重，不说谗言，有节制，凡事忠心。
