“‘ Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the Lord.

“‘ Do not ask for bad things to happen to deaf people. Do not put anything in front of blind people that will make them trip. Instead, have respect for me. I am the Lord your God.

其实食物不能使我们亲近神，我们不吃也无损，吃也无益。然而你们要谨慎，免得你们这自由成了软弱的人的绊脚石。因为如果有人看见你这有知识的人，在偶像的庙里吃喝，他的良心若是软弱，他不就放胆去吃那祭过偶像的食物吗？因此，基督已经为他死了的那软弱的弟兄，就因你的知识而灭亡了。你们这样得罪弟兄，伤了他们软弱的良心，就是得罪基督了。所以，如果食物使我的弟兄跌倒，我就永远不再吃肉，免得使我的弟兄跌倒了。

要尊重众人，爱护弟兄，敬畏神，尊敬君王。

所以，我们不要再彼此批评了；倒要立定主意，决不作绊倒弟兄或使他跌倒的事。

无论是犹太人，是希腊人，是神的教会，你们总不可使他们跌倒；

迫害你们的，要为他们祝福；只可祝福，不可咒诅。

在我们以先的前任省长，重压人民，每日都向他们索取粮食和酒，以及四百五十六克银子。连他们的仆人也辖制人民，但我因为敬畏神，就不这样行。

到了第三天，约瑟对他们说：“我是敬畏神的，你们要这样作，就可以活着；

然而有几件事我要责备你，因为在你那里有些人持守巴兰的教训。这巴兰曾经教导巴勒把绊脚石放在以色列人面前，叫他们吃祭过偶像的食物，并且行淫乱。

你们既称那不偏待人、按各人行为审判的主为父，就当存敬畏的心，过你们寄居的日子；
