勿緣斯事自辱厥躬、我於爾前所逐之民、行此自玷、

異邦人行此、自取污衊、故我逐之、爾勿則效、

爾毋行此沾污己身、我於爾前所將逐之諸族皆行之、自取沾污、

“‘ Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.

“‘ Do not make yourselves“ unclean” in any of these ways. That is how other nations became“ unclean.” So I am going to drive those nations out of the land to make room for you.

“ Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean,

“ Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, for the people I am driving out before you have defiled themselves in all these ways.

“ Do not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves by all these things.

‘ Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these things the nations which I am driving out from you have become defiled.

‘ Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you.

Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out from before you;

“ Do not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves by all these things.

Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:

“‘ Don’t defile yourselves in any of these things; for in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled.

Whoever does these things is abhorrent to the LORD and because of these detestable things the LORD your God is about to drive them out from before you.

You must obey my charge to not practice any of the abominable statutes that have been done before you, so that you do not defile yourselves by them. I am the LORD your God.’”

You must not worship the LORD your God the way they do! For everything that is abhorrent to him, everything he hates, they have done when worshiping their gods. They even burn up their sons and daughters before their gods!

But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a person.For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.These are the things that defile a person; it is not eating with unwashed hands that defiles a person.”

I sent my servants the prophets to you people over and over again warning you not to do this disgusting thing I hate.

You must not do as they do in the land of Egypt where you have been living, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan into which I am about to bring you; you must not walk in their statutes.

“‘ You must be sure to obey all my statutes and regulations, so that the land to which I am about to bring you to take up residence there does not vomit you out.You must not walk in the statutes of the nation which I am about to drive out before you, because they have done all these things and I am filled with disgust against them.

If someone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, which is what you are.

“‘ No man is to approach any close relative to have sexual intercourse with her. I am the LORD.You must not expose your father’s nakedness by having sexual intercourse with your mother. She is your mother; you must not have intercourse with her.You must not have sexual intercourse with your father’s wife; she is your father’s nakedness.You must not have sexual intercourse with your sister, whether she is your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she is born in the same household or born outside it; you must not have sexual intercourse with either of them.You must not expose the nakedness of your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter by having sexual intercourse with them, because they are your own nakedness.You must not have sexual intercourse with the daughter of your father’s wife born of your father; she is your sister. You must not have intercourse with her.You must not have sexual intercourse with your father’s sister; she is your father’s flesh.You must not have sexual intercourse with your mother’s sister, because she is your mother’s flesh.You must not expose the nakedness of your father’s brother; you must not approach his wife to have sexual intercourse with her. She is your aunt.You must not have sexual intercourse with your daughter-in-law; she is your son’s wife. You must not have intercourse with her.You must not have sexual intercourse with your brother’s wife; she is your brother’s nakedness.You must not have sexual intercourse with both a woman and her daughter; you must not take as wife either her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter to have intercourse with them. They are closely related to her– it is lewdness.You must not take a woman in marriage and then marry her sister as a rival wife while she is still alive, to have sexual intercourse with her.“‘ You must not approach a woman in her menstrual impurity to have sexual intercourse with her.You must not have sexual intercourse with the wife of your fellow citizen to become unclean with her.You must not give any of your children as an offering to Molech, so that you do not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD!You must not have sexual intercourse with a male as one has sexual intercourse with a woman; it is a detestable act.You must not have sexual intercourse with any animal to become defiled with it, and a woman must not stand before an animal to have sexual intercourse with it; it is a perversion.

For Moses said,‘ Honor your father and your mother,’ and,‘ Whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.’But you say that if anyone tells his father or mother,‘ Whatever help you would have received from me is corban’( that is, a gift for God),then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother.Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like this.”Then he called the crowd again and said to them,“ Listen to me, everyone, and understand.There is nothing outside of a person that can defile him by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles him.”
