你的污穢就是淫蕩。我想要潔淨你，你卻不願意潔淨，所以你的污穢再不能得到潔淨，直等到我向你發的烈怒止息。

這些人膽敢與你們同席，他們只顧餵飽（“餵飽”或譯：“牧養”）自己，是你們愛筵中的暗礁；是無雨的浮雲，隨風飄蕩；是秋天不結果子的樹，連根拔起，死而又死；

如果他們因為認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督，可以脫離世上的污穢，後來又在其中被纏住、受制伏，他們末了的景況，就比先前的更不好了。

他們的情形，正像俗語所說的：“狗轉過來，又吃自己所吐的；豬洗淨了，又到污泥中去打滾。”

他們都是十分悖逆的人，到處搬弄是非。他們是銅是鐵，他們都是敗壞的。風箱猛烈地吹，鉛在火中銷熔；他們煉而又煉，徒勞無功，因為邪惡的仍未除去。人要稱他們為被棄的銀渣，因為耶和華把他們棄絕了。

因為那些曾經蒙了光照，嘗過屬天的恩賜的滋味，與聖靈有分，並且嘗過神美善的道和來世的權能的人，如果偏離了正道，就不可能再使他們重新悔改了。因為他們親自把神的兒子再釘在十字架上，公然羞辱他。這就像一塊地，吸收了常常下在它上面的雨水，如果長出對種植的人有用的菜蔬，就從神那裡得福。但如果這塊地長出荊棘和蒺藜來，就被廢棄，近於咒詛，結局就是焚燒。
