You have made us become like trash and garbage among the nations.

你使我们在万族中，成了渣滓和废物。

你使我們在萬民中成為污穢和渣滓。

你使我們在萬族之民中成了遺穢和垃圾。

爾使我於列民中、成為塵垢廢物兮、

爾之視予、若被污穢、受世俗之塵垢兮。

使我在萬民中、猶若污穢可棄之物、

You have made us scum and refuse among the nations.

You have made us scum and garbage among the peoples.

You have discarded us as refuse and garbage among the nations.

You have made us disgusting filth among the peoples.

You have made us mere refuse and rubbish In the midst of the peoples.

You have made us an offscouring and refuse In the midst of the peoples.

Thou hast made us an off- scouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples.

You have made us disgusting filth among the peoples.

Thou hast made us[ as] the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.

You make us like filthy scum in the estimation of the nations.פ( Pe)

You have made us an off- scouring and refuse in the middle of the peoples.

When others say bad things about us, we answer with kind words. We have become the world’s garbage. We are everybody’s trash, right up to this moment.

They will lend money to you. But you won’t be able to lend money to them. They will be the leaders. But you will be the followers.

You will look very bad to all the nations where the Lord sends you. They will be completely shocked when they see you. They will mock you and make fun of you.

My people laugh at me all the time. They sing and make fun of me all day long.

All those who pass by clap their hands and make fun of you. They laugh at you and shake their heads at the city of Jerusalem. They say,“ Could that be the city that was called perfect and beautiful? Is that the city that brought joy to everyone on earth?”

Now those prophets and priests have to feel their way along the streets as if they were blind. The blood of those they killed has made them“ unclean.” So no one dares to touch their clothes.“ Go away! You are‘ unclean’!” people cry out to them.“ Go away! Get out of here! Don’t touch us!” So they run away and wander around. Then people among the nations say,“ They can’t stay here anymore.”

The Lord your God will make you leaders, not followers. Pay attention to his commands that I’m giving you today. Be careful to obey them. Then you will always be on top. You will never be on the bottom.
