因為以色列人必多日過着無君王，無領袖，無祭祀，無柱像，無以弗得，無家中神像的生活。

以色列人不信真神，沒有訓誨的祭司，也沒有律法，已經許多日子了。

他們對我說：「那些被擄歸回剩下的餘民在猶大省那裏遭大難，受凌辱；耶路撒冷的城牆被拆毀，城門被火焚燒。」

災害加上災害，風聲接連風聲；他們要向先知尋求異象，但祭司的教誨、長老的謀略都必斷絕。

你們因此必遭遇黑夜，看不到異象；遭遇幽暗，無法占卜。太陽必向先知沉落，白晝轉為黑暗。先見必抱愧，占卜的必蒙羞，他們全都摀着鬍鬚，因為上帝不應允他們。

我們看不見自己的標幟，不再有先知，我們當中也無人知道這災禍要到幾時。

猶大王約雅斤和他母親、臣僕、王子、官員一同出來，向巴比倫王投降。巴比倫王俘擄了他，那時是巴比倫王第八年。巴比倫王把耶和華殿裏和王宮裏一切的寶物從那裏拿走，又把以色列王所羅門所造耶和華殿裏一切的金器都毀壞了，正如耶和華所說的。他把全耶路撒冷眾領袖和所有大能的勇士，共一萬人，連同所有的木匠和鐵匠都擄了去，只留下這地最貧窮的百姓。他把約雅斤和他的母親、后妃、官員，以及這地的貴族，都從耶路撒冷擄到巴比倫去了，又把所有的勇士七千人，木匠和鐵匠一千人，全是能上陣的勇士，都擄到巴比倫去了。

猶大被擄，遭遇苦難，多服勞役。她住在列國中，得不着安息；追逼她的在狹窄之地追上她。

他們在西底家眼前殺了他的兒女，挖了西底家的眼睛，用銅鏈鎖着他，帶到巴比倫去。

耶和華對我說：「那些先知託我的名說假預言，我並未差遣他們，沒有吩咐他們，也沒有對他們說話；他們向你們預言的是虛假的異象、占卜、虛無，以及心中的詭詐。

耶和華的受膏者是我們鼻中的氣，被抓到他們的坑裏，論到他，我們曾說：「我們必在他蔭下，在列國中存活。」

西底家十一年四月初九日，城被攻破。

跟隨護衛長的迦勒底全軍拆毀了耶路撒冷四圍的城牆。

人向他們喊着：「你這不潔淨的，走開！走開！走開！不要摸我！」他們逃走流浪的時候，列國中有人說：「他們不可再寄居此地。」
