Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint from hunger at every street corner.

Get up. Cry out as the night begins. Tell the Lord all your troubles. Lift up your hands to him. Pray that the lives of your children will be spared. At every street corner they faint because they are so hungry.

Rise during the night and cry out. Pour out your hearts like water to the Lord. Lift up your hands to him in prayer, pleading for your children, for in every street they are faint with hunger.

I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word.Mine eyes prevent the[ night] watches, that I might meditate in thy word.

With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments[ are] in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I[ am] a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

Mine eyes do fail with tears, my bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.They say to their mothers, Where[ is] corn and wine? when they swooned as the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul was poured out into their mothers’ bosom.

[ Yet] the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song[ shall be] with me,[ and] my prayer unto the God of my life.

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Let my prayer be set forth before thee[ as] incense;[ and] the lifting up of my hands[ as] the evening sacrifice.

So Gideon, and the hundred men that[ were] with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that[ were] in their hands.

Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God.

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.

For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured[ it] out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh.

Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.

Lift up your hands[ in] the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.

How is the gold become dim![ how] is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people[ is become] cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread,[ and] no man breaketh[ it] unto them.They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing[ was] of sapphire:Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.[ They that be] slain with the sword are better than[ they that be] slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for[ want of] the fruits of the field.

When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for[ their] destruction,[ and] which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:

Yet[ was] she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
