現在，許多國家聚集攻擊你，說：「讓錫安被玷污！讓我們親眼看到！」

哪一大國有神明與他們相近，像耶和華－我們的上帝在我們求告他的時候與我們相近呢？哪一大國有這樣公義的律例典章，像我今日在你們面前所頒佈的這一切律法呢？

以致她追隨所愛的人，卻追不上，尋找他們，卻尋不着，就說：「我要回到前夫那裏去，因我那時比現在還好。」

「耶和華－你的上帝必領你進入美地，那地有河流，有泉源和深淵的水從谷中和山上流出那地有小麥、大麥、葡萄樹、無花果樹、石榴樹，那地也有橄欖油和蜂蜜。那地沒有缺乏，你在那裏有食物吃，一無所缺；那地的石頭是鐵，山中可以挖銅。

他將他的道指示雅各，將他的律例典章指示以色列。他未曾這樣對待別國，至於他的典章，他們向來都不知道。哈利路亞！

上帝何曾為自己嘗試從別的國中領出一國的子民來，用考驗、神蹟、奇事、戰爭、大能的手、伸出來的膀臂和大可畏的事，像耶和華－你們的上帝在埃及，在你們眼前為你們所做的一切事呢？這是要顯給你看，使你知道，惟有耶和華他是上帝，除他以外，再沒有別的了。他從天上使你聽見他的聲音，為要教導你，又在地上使你看見他的烈火，並且聽見他從火中所說的話。因為他愛你的列祖，揀選他們的後裔，親自用大能領你出了埃及，

凡過路的都向你拍掌。他們向耶路撒冷嗤笑，搖頭：「這就是人稱為全美的、稱為全地所喜悅的城嗎？」你所有的仇敵張口來攻擊你；他們嗤笑，切齒，說：「我們把她吞滅了，這是我們所盼望的日子！我們終於等到了，親眼看見了！」

「惟願我如從前的歲月，如上帝保護我的日子。那時他的燈照在我頭上，我藉他的光行過黑暗。在我壯年的時候，上帝親密的情誼臨到我的帳棚中。全能者仍與我同在，我的兒女都環繞我。我的腳洗在乳酪當中；磐石為我流出油河。我出到城門，在廣場安排座位，年輕人見我而迴避，老年人起身站立。王子都停止說話，用手摀口；領袖靜默無聲，舌頭貼住上膛。耳朵聽見了，稱我有福；眼睛看見了，就稱讚我。因我拯救了哀求的困苦人和無人幫助的孤兒。將要滅亡的為我祝福，我使寡婦心中歡呼。我穿上公義，它遮蔽我；我的公平如外袍和冠冕。我作瞎子的眼，瘸子的腳。我作貧窮人的父；我不認識之人的案件，我也去查明。我打破不義之人的大牙，從他牙齒中奪走他所搶的。我說：『我要增添我的日子如塵沙，我必死在自己家中。我的根伸展到水邊，露水夜宿我的枝上。我的榮耀在我身上更新，我的弓在我手中日新。』「人聽我說話而等候，為我的教導而靜默。我說話之後，他們就不再說；我的言語滴在他們身上。他們等候我如等雨水，又張口如切慕春雨。我向他們微笑，他們不敢相信；他們不使我臉上的光失色。我為他們選擇道路，又坐首位；我如君王在軍隊中居住，又如人安慰哀傷的人。」「但如今，比我年輕的人譏笑我；我曾藐視他們的父親，不放在我的牧羊犬中。

他醒悟過來，就說：『我父親有多少雇工，糧食有餘，我倒在這裏餓死嗎？
