All the splendor has departed from Daughter Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; in weakness they have fled before the pursuer.

The city of Zion used to be full of glory. But now her glory has faded away. Her princes are like deer. They can’t find anything to eat. They are almost too weak to get away from those who hunt them down.

From the daughter of Zion all her majesty has departed. Her princes have become like deer that find no pasture; they fled without strength before the pursuer.

All the majesty of beautiful Jerusalem has been stripped away. Her princes are like starving deer searching for pasture. They are too weak to run from the pursuing enemy.

The mighty men of Babylon have forborne to fight, they remain in their strongholds; their might hath failed; they are become as women: her dwelling- places are set on fire; her bars are broken.One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken on every quarter:and the passages are seized, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

And he burned the house of Jehovah, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burned he with fire.

How is the faithful city become a harlot! she that was full of justice! righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.

This is the word that Jehovah hath spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion hath despised thee and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

Cry aloud and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion; for great in the midst of thee is the Holy One of Israel.

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined forth.

Yea, the hind also in the field calveth, and forsaketh her young, because there is no grass.And the wild asses stand on the bare heights, they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage.

If thy children will keep my covenant And my testimony that I shall teach them, Their children also shall sit upon thy throne for evermore.For Jehovah hath chosen Zion; He hath desired it for his habitation.

How should one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Except their Rock had sold them, And Jehovah had delivered them up?

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all the captivity, whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem unto Babylon:

Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, The city of the great King.God hath made himself known in her palaces for a refuge.

Oh worship Jehovah in holy array: Tremble before him, all the earth.

Say thou unto the king and to the queen- mother, Humble yourselves, sit down; for your headtires are come down, even the crown of your glory.

Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword.

But now thou hast cast us off, and brought us to dishonor, And goest not forth with our hosts.Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; And they that hate us take spoil for themselves.Thou hast made us like sheep appointed for food, And hast scattered us among the nations.

Then did the cherubim lift up their wings, and the wheels were beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.And the glory of Jehovah went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.

How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed, shall I not now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up beside the pool in Hebron. How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger! He hath cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, And hath not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.The Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and hath not pitied: He hath thrown down in his wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah; He hath brought them down to the ground; he hath profaned the kingdom and the princes thereof.He hath cut off in fierce anger all the horn of Israel; He hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy: And he hath burned up Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about.He hath bent his bow like an enemy, he hath stood with his right hand as an adversary, And hath slain all that were pleasant to the eye: In the tent of the daughter of Zion he hath poured out his wrath like fire.The Lord is become as an enemy, he hath swallowed up Israel; He hath swallowed up all her palaces, he hath destroyed his strongholds; And he hath multiplied in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden; he hath destroyed his place of assembly: Jehovah hath caused solemn assembly and sabbath to be forgotten in Zion, And hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary; He hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces: They have made a noise in the house of Jehovah, as in the day of a solemn assembly.

And Jehovah will create over the whole habitation of mount Zion, and over her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for over all the glory shall be spread a covering.
