“ We are your servants,” they said to Joshua. But Joshua asked,“ Who are you and where do you come from?”

“ We’ll serve you,” they said to Joshua. But Joshua asked,“ Who are you? Where do you come from?”

They replied,“ We are your servants.”“ But who are you?” Joshua demanded.“ Where do you come from?”

They said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” Then Joshua asked them,“ Who are you and where do you come from?”

So they said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” Then Joshua said to them,“ Who are you and where do you come from?”

But they said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” And Joshua said to them,“ Who are you, and where do you come from?”

And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye?

So he who was over the palace, and he who was over the city, together with the elders and the guardians, sent to Jehu, saying,“ We are your servants, and we will do all that you tell us. We will not make anyone king. Do whatever is good in your eyes.”

And if it responds to you peaceably and it opens to you, then all the people who are found in it shall do forced labor for you and shall serve you.

So our elders and all the inhabitants of our country said to us,‘ Take provisions in your hand for the journey and go to meet them and say to them,“ We are your servants. Come now, make a covenant with us.”’

Now therefore you are cursed, and some of you shall never be anything but servants, cutters of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God.”

And now, behold, we are in your hand. Whatever seems good and right in your sight to do to us, do it.”

All the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the people of Israel—their descendants who were left after them in the land, whom the people of Israel were unable to devote to destruction— these Solomon drafted to be slaves, and so they are to this day.

he said,“ Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be to his brothers.”He also said,“ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem; and let Canaan be his servant.

But Joshua made them that day cutters of wood and drawers of water for the congregation and for the altar of the Lord, to this day, in the place that he should choose.
