Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you deceive us by saying,‘ We live a long way from you,’ while actually you live near us?

Joshua sent for the people of Gibeon. He said to them,“ Why did you trick us? You said,‘ We live far away from you.’ But in fact you live close to us.

Joshua summoned them, and he said to them,“ Why did you deceive us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you dwell among us?

Joshua called together the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you lie to us? Why did you say that you live in a distant land when you live right here among us?

Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said to them,“ Why did you deceive us by telling us you live far away from us, when in fact you live among us?

Then Joshua called for them and spoke to them, saying,“ Why have you deceived us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you are living within our land?

And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us?

他們去到吉甲營中約書亞那裡，對約書亞和以色列人說：“我們是從遠地來的，現在求你們和我們立約。”

以色列人和他們立約之後，過了三天，才聽見他們是自己的近鄰，是住在這地的居民。

到了早晨，雅各才看出原來是利亞，就對拉班說：“你向我作的是甚麼事呢？我服事你，不是為了拉結的緣故嗎？你為甚麼欺騙我呢？”

他們回答約書亞：“你的僕人為了耶和華你神的名從很遠的地方而來，因為我們聽見了他的名聲和他在埃及所行的一切事，以及他對約旦河東亞摩利人的兩個王，就是希實本王西宏和在亞斯他錄的巴珊王噩，所行的一切事。

以掃因為他父親給雅各所祝的福，就懷恨雅各；以掃心裡想：“為我父親守喪的時候近了，到時我必殺我的弟弟雅各。”有人把利百加大兒子以掃所說的話告訴了利百加，她就派人把她小兒子雅各叫了來，對他說：“你哥哥以掃想要殺你，報仇雪恨。我兒啊，現在你要聽我的話；起來，逃到哈蘭我哥哥拉班那裡去吧。與他住些時日，等到你哥哥的怒氣消了。你哥哥對你消了怒氣，忘記了你對他所作的事，我就派人去把你從那裡接回來。我何必在一日之內喪失你們兩個呢？”

耶和華神對女人說：“你作了甚麼事呢？”女人說：“那蛇欺哄我，我就吃了。”耶和華神對蛇說：“因為你作了這事，就必在所有的牲畜和田野的活物中受咒詛；你要用肚子行走，一生都吃泥土。

以撒說：“你弟弟已經前來，用詭計把你的祝福奪去了。”以掃說：“他名叫雅各不是很對嗎？因為他欺騙了我兩次。從前他奪去我的長子名分，現在他又奪去我的祝福。”以掃又說：“你再沒有祝福留給我嗎？”

我只怕你們的心受到引誘，失去對基督的單純和貞潔，好像蛇用詭計騙了夏娃一樣。
