这样，便雅悯人就看出自己被击败了。原来以色列人倚靠在基比亚前面设下的伏兵，就对便雅悯人诈败。

示剑人在山顶上设下埋伏，路过他们那里的，他们都劫掠；有人把这事告诉亚比米勒。

以色列众人都从自己的地方起来，在巴力．他玛列阵；以色列的伏兵，从基比亚西边埋伏的地方冲出来。

于是我说：“智慧胜过武力”，但是那个穷人的智慧被藐视，他的话也没有人听从。

城里的众民都被召集，去追赶他们；艾城的人追赶约书亚的时候，就都被诱离城。

万军之耶和华这样说：‘以色列人从埃及上来的时候，亚玛力人对他们所行的，在路上攻击他们的事，我必要惩罚。
