Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell facedown to the ground before the ark of the Lord, remaining there till evening. The elders of Israel did the same, and sprinkled dust on their heads.

Joshua and the elders of Israel became sad. Joshua tore his clothes. He fell in front of the ark of the Lord with his face to the ground. He remained there until evening. The elders did the same thing. They also sprinkled dust on their heads.

Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until the evening, he and the elders of Israel. And they put dust on their heads.

于是约伯起来，撕裂外袍，剃了头，俯伏在地上敬拜，

他们从远处举目观望，竟认不出他来，就放声大哭，各自撕裂外袍，向天扬起尘土，落在自己头上。

他们又把尘土撒在自己头上，痛哭悲哀，喊着说：‘有祸了！有祸了！这大城啊！凡是有船航行海上的，都因这城的财宝发了财；一时之间她竟成了荒场！’

巴拿巴和保罗两个使徒听见了，就撕裂衣服，跳进群众中间，喊着说：

末底改知道了发生的一切事，就撕裂自己的衣服，披上麻衣，撒上灰尘，出到城中，大声痛哭地呼叫。

事前，以色列人上伯特利去，在耶和华面前哀哭直到晚上，然后求问耶和华，说：“我们再去与我们的兄弟便雅悯人交战，可以不可以？”耶和华说：“你们可以上去攻打他们。”

摩西和亚伦就俯伏在地，说：“神啊，万人之灵的神啊，一人犯罪，你就要向全体会众发怒吗？”

有一个便雅悯人跑离战场，衣服撕裂，头蒙尘土，当天来到示罗。

大卫为那孩子恳求神，并且禁食。他进房里去，终夜躺在地上。

以色列众人，就是全体人民，又上到伯特利，坐在耶和华面前哀哭，那日禁食直到晚上，然后在耶和华面前献上燔祭和平安祭。

“你们要离开这会众，我好在眨眼间把他们消灭。”他们二人就俯伏在地。

我一听见这事，就撕裂我的衣服和外袍，拔掉头上的头发和胡须，惊惧地坐着。所有因着以色列神针对被掳归回的人之不忠、对他们所说的话而战兢的人，都聚集到我面前。我惊惧地坐着，直到献晚祭的时候。“献晚祭的时候，我在禁食中起来，穿着撕裂了的衣服和外袍，双膝跪下，向耶和华我的神张开双手，

他们为了扫罗、他的儿子约拿单、耶和华的子民和以色列家的缘故悲哀、哭泣、禁食直到晚上，因为他们已经倒毙在刀下。

众人来到伯特利，在那里坐在神面前直到晚上，放声大哭，
