眾人一開始歡呼頌讚的時候，永恆主就派伏兵擊殺那來攻打猶大人的亞捫人、摩押人和西珥山人；他們就被擊敗了。因為亞捫人和摩押人起來，擊殺了住西珥山的人，將他們殺滅歸神、而除滅掉：他們把西珥居民滅盡了之後，竟又彼此助長以相除滅。

於是猶大人吶喊；猶大人吶喊的時候，上帝就把耶羅波安和以色列眾人擊敗在亞比雅和猶大人面前了。

當羊角聲拉長、你們聽見號角聲的時候，眾民要大聲吶喊，城牆就會當場陷落；眾民都要上去，各人往前直上。』
