[ And] when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What[ mean] the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us,[ what] work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

But[ that] it[ may be] a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.

The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates[ for] a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.

The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I[ do] this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign[ that] shall not be cut off.

And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I[ am] the LORD your God.

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off,[ even] as many as the Lord our God shall call.
