吩咐人民說：『你們一看見永恆主你們的上帝的約櫃、而祭司利未人抬着，就要從你們住的地方往前行，在後面跟着走。

吩咐百姓说：“你们看见耶和华你们神的约柜，又见祭司利未人抬着，就要离开所住的地方，跟着约柜去。

giving orders to the people:“ When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it.

They gave orders to the people. They said,“ Watch for the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God. The priests, who are Levites, will be carrying it. When you see it, you must move out from where you are and follow it.

and commanded the people,“ As soon as you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God being carried by the Levitical priests, then you shall set out from your place and follow it.

giving these instructions to the people:“ When you see the Levitical priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, move out from your positions and follow them.

and commanded the people,“ When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God carried by the Levitical priests, you are to break camp and follow it.

and they commanded the people, saying,“ When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God with the Levitical priests carrying it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.

and they commanded the people, saying,“ When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.

摩西把這律法寫下來，交給抬永恆主約櫃的祭司、利未子孫、和以色列眾長老。

你要吩咐抬約櫃的祭司說：「你們到了約但河的水邊，就要在約但河那裏站着。」』

以色列人從永恆主的山往前行了三天的路程，永恆主約櫃在他們前面往前行了三天的路程，為他們探覓停息處。

日間、永恆主在他們的前面走，在雲柱中領導他們的路；夜間、在火柱中光照亮他們，使他們日夜都可以走路。日間雲柱、夜間火柱、總不離開人民的前面。

摩西就吩咐抬永恆主約櫃的利未人說：

抬永恆主櫃的人走了六步，大衛就獻牛和肥畜為祭。

於是嫩的兒子約書亞把祭司們叫了來，對他們說：『你們抬起約櫃；要有七個祭司背着七個羊號角在永恆主的櫃前面。』

抬櫃的祭司站在約但河中間，等到永恆主吩咐約書亞告訴人民的事、照摩西所吩咐約書亞的、都作完了，人民便急忙忙過去。

於是耶穌對門徒說：『人若想要跟着我，就當棄絕自己，拿起他的十字架來跟從我。

約書亞又對祭司們說：『你們要抬着約櫃，在人民前面過去。』他們就抬着約櫃，在人民前面走。

有一個經學士上前來、對他說：『先生，你無論往哪裏去，我都要跟從你。』

這些人是沒有同婦女在一起而沾染污穢的；他們是童身。這些人是無論羔羊往哪裏去、都跟從羔羊的。這些人是從人間買出來、做初熟果子獻與上帝和羔羊的。

他們將上帝的櫃套在一輛新車上，從山岡上亞比拿達家裏抬出來；亞比拿達的兒子烏撒和亞希約趕着這新車。

大衛將祭司撒督和亞比亞他、跟利未人烏列、亞帥雅、約珥、示瑪雅、以列、亞米拿達、召了來，對他們說：『你們是利未人父系的首長；你們和你們的族弟兄都應當潔淨自己為聖，好將以色列之上帝、永恆主的櫃、接上來到我所給豫備的地方。

人民離開帳棚往前行、要過約但河的時候，抬約櫃的祭司在人民前面。原來約但河水在收割的日子總是漲滿河岸的。當下抬櫃的人來到約但河；抬櫃的祭司的腳一蘸在水邊，那從上邊往下流的水便從極遠之處、在亞當、在撒拉但旁邊的城那裏站住，立成了一壘，而那向亞拉巴海、就是鹽海、往下流的水便全然截斷；於是人民就在耶利哥對面過去了。抬永恆主約櫃的祭司在約但河中間的乾地上直站着，等以色列眾人都在乾地上過去，直到全國的人盡都過了約但河為止。

全營將要往前行的時候、亞倫和他的兒子們既把聖所和聖所的一切器具遮蓋完了之後，哥轄的子孫就要來抬，只是不可觸着聖物，免得死亡。會棚裏這些物件是哥轄子孫所應當抬的。
