And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant which had been found in the house of the Lord.Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.And he made all who were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin take a stand. So the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.The Lord did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive.

Then Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of the Lord.

“ Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that His fierce wrath may turn away from us.

And all Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought Him with all their soul; and He was found by them, and the Lord gave them rest all around.

“ All of you stand today before the Lord your God: your leaders and your tribes and your elders and your officers, all the men of Israel,your little ones and your wives— also the stranger who is in your camp, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water—that you may enter into covenant with the Lord your God, and into His oath, which the Lord your God makes with you today,that He may establish you today as a people for Himself, and that He may be God to you, just as He has spoken to you, and just as He has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.“ I make this covenant and this oath, not with you alone,but with him who stands here with us today before the Lord our God, as well as with him who is not here with us today

Now the rest of the people— the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone who had knowledge and understanding—these joined with their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse and an oath to walk in God’s Law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and His ordinances and His statutes:

Then Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and called for the elders of Israel, for their heads, for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

Then they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
